Volunteer Spotlight
Jonas R Lewis Jr. was born on July 5th, 1978 in Baltimore, Maryland; later relocating with his mother and younger sister to St. Charles, Mo in 1980. Jonas was a kid who loved the outdoors. At the age of 11, after a long talk with his mother, Papa and Uncle AJ, Jonas started on the Scout Trail in the fall of 1989 in BSA Troop 397 of O’Fallen, MO. In 1993 Jonas was able attend Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron New Mexico. In the fall of 1995, he completed his Eagle Scout project building Wood Duck boxes for the August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area. In May of 1996, he was award the rank of Eagle Scout. In 1997, Jonas graduated Fort Zumwalt South High School.
In the Fall of 1998 Jonas decided to take his skills he learned in Scouts and joined the United States Navy. Jonas would stay in the Navy for over 22 years. With the support of his family, his friends and his Sailors, Jonas had the honor of wearing the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer before his retirement in November 2020. Jonas was stationed all over the world while volunteering at local troops. In 2018 the Scouting Trail became different for Jonas, while enrolling his son Logan into Cub Scouts.
Jonas became a Cub Scout dad, walking with his son down the Scouting Trail. In 2020 Jonas would marry Sara Brown and again the Scouting Trail would take a different “switch back” when Sara, along with her two kids, Lincoln and Sawyer, started on their own Scout trail. In the fall of 2020, Jonas would become the Den leader for Lincolns Den (Tiger) and then in the March of 2021, he would assume the roll of Cubmaster for Pack 451 in Pace, FL.
While on the Scout trail (either as a youth or adult), Jonas as held leadership positions as troop librarian, Assistant Patrol leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Military Liaison to Trans-Atlantic Counsel (Sigonella), Den Leader, and Cubmaster.
